Our History

Rachel's Kids is an ecumenical ministry established to reach out to a group of local kids — the children living in the Binghampton neighborhood near Midtown — to help them and show them the love of Christ. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to demonstrating freedom and the sacredness of life, and empowering the children to rise above their present circumstances.

Our Mission

The goal of Rachel’s Kids Inc. is to ease human suffering where we can, and to provide opportunities for sustainable development, dignity, and improved quality of life for those children who suffer in the inner city neighborhoods of Memphis.

How We Face the Crisis

The crisis: Young people feel misunderstood and neglected and are being raised in environments where self-worth and hope for the future are destroyed. Rachel’s Kids, Inc. provides some of what is missing in these children’s lives — love, kindness, and commitment — through positive adult relationships.

Our Accomplishments

The Rachel's Kids, Inc. team has developed and nurtured loving trusting relationships among a group of high-risk children living under disadvantaged conditions of poverty, violence, crime, drugs, and unstable family relationships. They have mentored almost one hundred children under age 18, tutoring them academically, physically, emotionally, and — most important — spiritually.
